Booing at El Grito
Or why those who rules us shouldn't be worshiped
El Grito is the best part of Mexican Independence day celebrations, but it's not because of the nationalism. It's because all the people come together and boo the president, or governor, or mayor. It's because it's a reminder that political leadership should be uncomfortable. It's a reminder that they are accountable to the people.
